HIGHLIGHTS as of June 1, 2008

In May, the Michigan House passed two reproductive health–related measures. One measure, which is awaiting consideration by the Senate, would require a hospital to provide a woman who has been sexually assaulted with information about emergency contraception and to dispense the medication upon her request. The other, which is awaiting action by Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D), would parallel the federal ban on “partial-birth” abortion.
